Background: Information Ministers of Arab nations have been meeting in Cairo to discuss ways of promoting further unity in the Arab world.
The conference is part of a series of meetings covering Arab foreign, defence and economic matters. Among those attending are delegates from Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Lebanon, Qatar, Morocco and Jordan.
The Moroccan Ambassador, Abdel Latif Eraki introduced the Egyptian Foreign Minister, Dr. Abdel Kader Hatem, who took the chair.
He introduced the Secretary-General of the Arab League, Mr. Mahmud Riad, who addressed the Ministers.
Mr. Riad said he was pleased the ministers had been able to attend the conference, which was part of a larger series of meetings.
He stressed the consolidation and unification of Arab thought and of national will and action.
