Background: In the exhibition hall at the Berlin Funkturm, (The the annual competition between German Hairdressers for Ladies and Gentleman's styles was won today by Wilfried Heinzel of Frankfurt-am-Main.
After the more serious business of the competition the imagination of the competitors was let run to riot for the second day of 'fancy' style. A time limit was imposed, and working within it each competitor set out to design what look to be the most elaborate 'creations' over to adorn the head of woman. Working deftly with scissors and comb, the 'stylists' curled and trimmed and waved the hair of their models into these futuristic shapes which curled and swept upwards from the head in ever mounting whorls and horns and cornucopia-like twists.
Many of the spectators equipped with opera glasses the better to see the 'coiffeurs' at the distant point of the long line of competitors, must have wondered what twist and twirl was coming next.
