Background: The Japanese tanker Tosa Maru sank yesterday (Friday) in Malacca Straits near Singapore after being involved in a collision with another tanker, the Liberian registered Cactus Queen.

The stern of the Tosa Mary settled on the bottom shortly after this film was taken and Singapore authorities have since warned all shipping to keep clear of this area.

All crewmen were rescued following the midnight collision but fire raged for most of the following day until the tanker sank. Anti-pollution boats also patrolled the area to combat a half-mile oil slick seeping from the fully-laden Tosa Maru.
