Background: President Michel Micombero of Burundi arrived in Kinshasa on July 27 for talks with Zaire leader General Mobutu Sese Seko. This was President Micombero's first trip outside his country since the bloody civil disorders there that allegedly left fifty-thousand people dead.
Zaire provided Burundi with military assistance during those disorders in April and May.
President Micombero's visit to Zaire lasted twenty-four hours. During that time he hold meetings with President Mobutu and gave a radio interview. In the interview he expressed pleasure at meeting the fraternal people of Zaire again and at the warm welcome he had received from President Mobutu.
