The Indian Air Force plane bringing India's President, Rajendra Prasad arrives in pouring rain and stops opposite the Airport Building.
Dr. Prasad comes down the gangway under the cover of umbrellas to be greeted first by the Governor-General, Sir Oliver Goonetileke and then by the Prime Minister, Mr. Bandaranaike.
Arrives with Indian High Commissioner in Ceylon - Mr. Gundevia to inspect the Army Guard-of-Honour mounted in one of the hangars - The Army Commander - Brigadier Anton Muttucumaroe meets him and conducts him to the Saluting Dais. He inspects the Guard-of-honour.
Arrives at the Airport Terminal building and is received by the Prime Minister, who garlands him with a string of Orchids. President Prasad in a brief speech expressed his joy to be in Ceylon and stressed the common ties that existed between the two countries.
The Prime Minister presents the members of his cabinet before leaving for "Queens House", the residence of the Governor General.
