TRANSCRIPT: SEQ. 4: DOUGLAS-HOME: (The British Government's purpose) in dealing with these espionage problem, was to improve our relations with the Soviet Union, because the operation of so many intelligence agents in the Embassy to London and in the Trade Mission under the cover of diplomats community, reached proportions which made it unacceptable. So before we begin to talk in terms of European security, and to prepare, as I hope we can, a European security conference, we thought it better to est this problem out of the way and, I hope, finally out of the way. So my purpose and the purpose of my Government is to have friendly, cooperative relations with the Soviet Union. But that is only possible if we, have relations of trust.
DOUGLAS-HOME: It is a good illustration of intolerance growing to ??? where the original reasons for difference are largely last sight of and the anarchist steps in. The present members of the I.R.A. have no concern for Roman Catholics or Protestants. They are simply interested in the disintegration of society. And I use this therefore as an illustration to show how time doesn't necessarily solve this problem. it may indeed let in the anarchists, and this applies to other situations and international situations in the world.

Two extracts are included in this film, which was recorded in London from a satellite transmission. They deal with the British Government's motives for ordering the recall of 105 Soviet diplomats and officials, and the role of the illegal Irish Republican Army institution in Northern Ireland.
