Background: In Moscow the Romanian Foreign Minister Mr. Corneliu Manescu and his party have visited the Lenin Mausoleum and laid a wreath. Mr. Manescu is now on an official visit in Moscow at the invitation of the Soviet government. The ribbons on the wreath bear an inscription reading: To the great Lenin from the Foreign Minister of the Romanian Socialist Republic.
The Romanian officials observed a minute of silence to pay homage to the memory of the founder of the Soviet Communist Party and the government. Later the Rumanian Foreign Minister laid a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
The wreath-laying ceremonies were attended by Mr. Ilyichev, Deputy Soviet Foreign Minister, Mr. Astavin, Chief of the 5th European Department of the Soviet Foreign Ministry, and other officials.
