SV Ike talking. 'Well I think the change is far more apparent than real. Last saturday it was stated that we were not going to talk about the affairs of Nationalists China except with them present. I believe that Mr Dulles made this point clear also at his own press conference saying were would not discuss the affairs of the Chinese Nationalists behind therebacks. But that in as a test of good intent if the Chi-com wanted to talk merly about cease fire, we would be glad to meet with them and talk with them, but there would be no conferring about the affairs of the Chinese Nationalist. So I think that the one statement may have accured in not being as complete as it should have been but I don't believe it was a reversal attitude.

SV Ike listening to question and relying: 'Well you are correct in making the observation. Anything that dosent effect the Chinese Nationalists and there seems to be an opportunity for us to further the eassing of tensions the advancement of world peace and certainly getting back our prisoners of course we talk about it. I merely meant to say that when it comes to talking about the affairs that involves out ally bount to us by treaty were not going to talk behind their backs. That was one caveat I put on the answer.
