Background: West German Foreign Minister Walter Scheel held lengthy discussions with his Indonesian counterpart Adam Malik in Djakarta yesterday (Thursday). Talks between the two men centred mainly around the worsening South East Asian situation.
Mr Scheel expressed deep interest in the coming conference on Cambodia organised by Indonesia. The two Foreign Ministers discussed the present crisis in South Vietnam and Cambodia, the likely results of the American thrust and how it will affect stability in the region.
Later the men will hold talks on relations between West Germany and Indonesia and how they could be improved both politically and economically.
During his short stay in Djakarta Mr Scheel will have talks with other Government leaders including President Suharto. Mr Scheel is at present on a wide ranging tour through Asia.
