    PROMOTER: SEQ 2: "Gentlemen, we are very happy to announce this morning the confirmation of negotiations for the very important 15-round heavyweight fight between Muhammad Ali and Oscar Bonavena, Which we have scheduled for Madison Square Gardens on the night of Sunday, December 7. The contracts are being signed here today by Muhammad Ali and by representatives of Oscar Bonavena. Oscar himself will be here tomorrow morning, having been unavoidably delayed in Argentina. The terms for the contest as to what the boxers will receive are as follows: Mohammad Ali will receive a guarantee of 200,000 dollars against 42 1/2 per cent. of all receipts (indistinct)... Bonavena will receive a guarantee of 100,000 dollars against 20 per cent of all receipts. Thank you."

    Background: Former world heavyweight boxing champion Muhammad Ali yesterday (Thursday) signed a contract to fight Argentinean Oscar Bonavena in New York on December 7. Ali -- also known as Cassius Clay -- said he regarded the 15-round bout as the "toughest" possible build-up to his bid to regain the championship.

    This will be the second fight in the undefeated Ali's comeback. Last week he stopped Jerry Quarry in three rounds -- his first fight after three-and-a-half years ring inactivity following his refusal to serve in the U.S. Army.

    Under the contract announced yesterday, Ali is guaranteed at least 200,000 dollars (over 83,000 sterling) for his December fight:
