In Bangkok, Thailand, there were demonstrations a well as celebrations. One of the biggest anti-American demonstrations took place at the Thamasat university.
More than five thousand students turned out to listen to speakers who denounced the United States government for what they termed, "the American government's aggressive and imperialistic polities."
A large contingent of police were on hand to keep an eye on the demonstration but the students remained orderly and there were n incidents. The demonstration was organised by the National Students Centre of Thailand and other student organisations.
While this demonstration was in progress another progress another pro-United States rally was also taking place organised by the Democracy Monument. Riot police were on full alert for the entire day to prevent the clashes between the two groups.
