Background: Latest film of the recovery of an American space capsule - forerunner of attempts to recover man from space flights.
Already a number of successful landings of capsules have been made - some of them using a live pig. The US target date for the first space flight by man is 1961, Robert Gilruth, Director of the space project Mercury says.
This capsule test shows the automatic ejection of a parachute to bring the capsule down safety in the Atlantic - where the experts hope to recover the cabin and man from outer space.
The cabin will be fitted with a special couch on which the spaceman - the US is training seven of them - will lie.
The first test firings of the cabin are planned for this summer. Next year, chimpanzees will be fired. Radar will track space rockets and help return them to earth.
