Background: Camerounian delegated arrived in Fort Lamy, Ched, on Wednesday, 4 August for a series of meetings concerning economic matters. The joint commission decided to finalise projects under an agreement signed by the two countries in 1970 and work to strengthen economic cooperation. The commission also decided to work out details of two projects; a bridge over the Shari River that links the two countries and the construction of a road to carry heavy traffic between Ngaounders in the Cameroun and Moundou in Chad. The Commission is to meet again in November.
SYNOPSIS: A joint Chad-Cameroun Commission met in Fort Lamy, Chad last Wednesday to begin a series of meetings on economic issues. Chad Commerce Minister Abdal Mouti Tana said to Commission would work to strengthen economic cooperation between the two nations.
As a result of the meeting, experts from the two countries will meet to work out details of two projects: the construction of a bridge over the River Shari which forms the boundary between Chad and Cameroun and the construction of a road carrying heavy traffic between Ngaoundere, Cameroun and Moundou in Chad. The Commission will meet again this November.
