    Background: The new Lister-Jaguar sports-racing car, capable of 200 mph, was shown to Visnews on a disused airfield near Cambridge, England driven by Ivor Bueb.

    With the famous Vanwalls disappearing from the international racing circuits, after the announcement from its maker Mr. Tony Vanderwell that he is retiring because of health reasons, the new Lister-Jaguar and the Cooper model with the B.R.M. Engine will be the two main cars upholding the British prestige in the forthcoming Grand Prix races.

    The body of the new car was designed by Mr. Frank Costing, who also designed the bodies of the Vanwall and Lotus racers. The Lister Jaguar is built by a small firm in Cambridge. Fitted with a 3.8 litre-300 BHP engine, it is about 20 mph faster than the 1958 version, At least two Lister-Jaguars are to be entered for Le Mans June 1959 and the 1,000 kilometre race at Nurburgring, Germany,
