Background: An Air India Boeing Brought Pope Paul at 5.25 PM in Bombay. He was received amongst others by the Indian Vice President Dr. Zakir Hussain, Prime Minister Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri and Bombay's Chief Minister Mr. Naik. As the plane taxied at the Santa Cruz there was a loud and thundering cheers by the people assembled at the airport. Pope Paul was garlanded by Dr. Hussain then he shook his hands with Mr. Shastri. An estimated crowd of 40 lakhs greeted Pope Paul on his way to the Oval ground where he blessed the congregation.
