    Background: Some of the world's top Moto-Cross racers were among the field of forty-one riders who competed Sunday (14 May) at Holice, Czechoslovakia. Fourteen countries were represented at this tenth annual Grand Prix of Czechoslovakia in a Moto-Cross for, motorcycles in the 250 cc class. The race was the fourth of this year's world championship.

    The race was divided into two runs, each forty minutes long and consisting of two heats. Joel Robert of Belgium won the first run coming in ahead of Vladimir Kavinov of the Soviet Union. In the second run Robert and Kavinov both were fighting for victory. In spite of mechanical difficulties which forced Kavinov to push his motorcycle across the finish line, he was the overall winner of the race. Robert was second and Uno Palm of Sweden was third.

    The second place finish by Robert was sufficient to keep him in first place for this year's world championship title. robert is a five-time world champion.
