Background: Jordanian students joined Palestinian Commandos in a unified march through the capital, Amman, on Tuesday (April 14th) calling for a total strike to coincide with the arrival on Friday of the United States Assistant-Secretary of State, Mr. Joseph Sisco.

Banners carried by the demonstrators called on Mr. Sisco -- who is President Nixon's top Middle East adviser - to "take your projects and solutions elsewhere and "by soul and blood we protect the Palestinian revolution-the only language we understand is liberation, war".

Although the students part in demonstration was generally peaceful, the Unified Command of the Palestine Resistance Movement issued a separate statement branding Mr. Sisco's tour as " a dangerous move for hatching move for hatching a conspiracy by imperialist forces against our people, aimed at undermining the Palestine Resistance and Arab Liberation movements".

Mr. Sisco is currently in Israel after having visited the United Arab Republic.
