NKOMO: "Some of those young people brought to hospital were of the age of those being trained for guerrilla activity. We have sufficient of those young men, make no mistake about that. We don't have to lie about it. We have sufficient of them. When we say these others are engaged on these vital issues, we mean that. But don't talk, don't talk things that don't happen. I've never said we don't have men for training. We have them. Thousands of them. But you don't go and give trained men, training ten kilometres (6.2 miles) out of the city. What make sense would that be. There have been some khaki-looking clothes which have been uniform, you'll get it. You don't have to say it is uniform-looking. We have young men in uniform, and armed. There's all sorts of weapons, make no mistake about that one. So you don't go hunting for people being murdered by these racists. And we tell you that this is what these young people are doing. And then you start thinking something else. The surprise of some of our Western press.
"A certain amount of racial thinking if a black man say something and a white man says ... it is the white man's word which is credible. This is normal to some of the journalists in this part of the world. If the United States and Britain think this is what they can do to us, then they must be daydreaming. We mean to get that country by force, and we shall get it. I will repeat that. We mean to get that country by force and we shall get it, within the time limit I have given."
