    Background: A Soviet made II yushin-62 jet airliner crashed near Damascus, Syria, on wednesday (20 th ) killing 126 people. The Czechoslovak Airlines jet was approaching the Damascus airport when the crash occurred. It was carrying mostly East Europeans and Syrians on their way from Prague. It smashed into a low hill as it approached Damascus. Only two survived -- a doctor and a young child.

    Among the passengers were Danish conductor Erling Hoey, his wife, Kathrin, and his son, Jacob. Mr. Hoey was the conductor of the Iran Philharmonic orchestra. They were all Killed.

    Experts are still seeking the cause of the crash.
