Background: AN AGREEMENT SIGNED RECENTLY IN ACCRA BETWEEN GHANA AND ITALY EXEMPTS ORGANISATIONS RUNNING MARITIME AND AIR SERVICES IN EACH OTHER'S COUNTRY FROM PAYING INCOME TAX.

THE SIGNING TOOK PLACE AT THE MINISTRY OF FINANCE BY GHANA'S COMMISSIONER FOR FINANCE, BRIGADIER AFRIFA, AND THE ITALIAN AMBASSADOR TO GHANA, DR. LUIGI GASBARRI.

AFTER THE SIGNING BRIGADIER AFRIFA SAID THAT THE AGREEMENT HAD RESULTED FROM A SERIES OF NEGOTIATIONS WHICH FIRST STARTED IN 1962, AND HE WAS PARTICULARLY HAPPY THAT THE SIGNATURES HAD NOW FINALLY BEEN MADE.

THE BRIGADIER ADDED THAT THE AIR AND SEA AGREEMENT WOULD GO A LONG WAY TO STRENGTHENING THE BONDS OF FRIENDSHIP BETWEEN THE TWO COUNTRIES.
