IN THE MILITARY CAMP AT KOKOLA YESTERDAY (FRIDAY) A COURT HEADED BY MAJOR SINGA HEARD EVIDENCE AND PASSED SENTENCES IN THE CASES OF THEFT OF AN AIRCRAFT; THEFT OF A REVOLVER AND THE MISAPPROPRIATION OF GOVERNMENT FUNDS.

    SENTENCED TO 5 YEARS, WAS A POLISH MERCENARY FOR THE MURDER OF ANOTHER MERCENARY AT PAULIS. THREE YEARS WAS THE SENTENCE PASSED ON A CONGOLESE FOR THE THEFT OF A REVOLVER.

    THE DAY'S MAJOR CASE WAS THAT OF A BERLIN-BORN SOUTH AFRICAN MERCENARY CHARGED WITH THE THEFT OF 54 MILLION CONGOLESE FRANCS (GBP128,000 STERLING). GERD-JOHANN VON BLOTTNITZ WAS SAID TO HAVE STOLEN MONEY FROM MERCENARY ACCOUNTS. A BELGIAN LAWYER IS APPEARING ON BEHALF OF THE SOUTH AFRICAN AND THE CASE, AFTER THE READING OF THE CHARGE, WAS ADJOURNED UNTIL MONDAY.
