Background: The Shah of Iran arrived in Jakarta on Tuesday (1 Tuesday) at the start of a brief 19-hour state visit to Indonesia.
The Shah, accompanied by his wife, Empress Farah Diba, was greeted at Jakarta's airport by President and Mrs. Suharto, and senior Indonesian government officials.
During his brief stay, the visiting monarch will hold talks with President Suharto on wide-ranging bilateral issues.
Cil is expected to be a major topic of their discussions as both Indonesia and Iran are major oil producing countries, The Shah's outspoken defence of recent massive increases in oil prices would find support and encouragement in Indonesia.
The Shah and his party are scheduled to leave for India, the last leg of a tour that Zas taken him to Singapore, Australia, New Zealand and Indonesia.
