Background: The Belgian doctors strike - talks between their leaders and the Government open again tomorrow (Friday) after nine days of deadlock.
Over the border in Luxemburg, one group of doctors have taken up residence at a hotel, awaiting the outcome of the struggle. Like their 12,000 colleagues and dentists on strike they are protesting against proposals to change the national health scheme.
The strike has stopped medical services and treatment and only a few hospitals have been dealing with emergency cases. To help ease the crisis, Belgian Army hospitals have been opened to civilians as this one at Namur.
During the day most of the country's maternity hospitals closed their doors.
