Background: The residents of the San Fernando Valley areas devastated by last week's earthquake, slowly returned to their homes during the-end. Eighty thousand people were evacuated in the area surrounding the Van Norman Dam which was cracked during the earthquake - and today (Sunday), a new slighter tremor was registered, once more endangering the areas below, but as yet no news has been received that the residents will once more have to be evacuated. this film shows how some families - including pets - returned to their homes to find them livable in spite of upturned furniture and broken crockery and ornaments; while others, less fortunate, found that all they could do was pack up their belongings and move out because their homes were in danger of collapse.
