Background: King Fredrik of Denmark, accompanied by the heir to the throne, Princess Margarethe, watched realistic bombing and rocket attacks during the first public demonstration of the Danish Air Force at Jagerspris July 7 to mark its tenth birhtday. A crowd estimated at 10,000 was present, including members of the NATO missions.

Denmark's present-day airforce began in 1950 with a delivery of British-built fighters;since then, Britain and the USA have kept Denmark's airforce up to strength. Planes now in use include Meteors and Hunters; the Catalina is also employed, largerly for spotting ice-bergs breaking from the Greenland ice-cap and floating south to menace shipping.
