SPEECH ON FILM (TRANSCRIPT)
PROFESSOR FINKEL: (SEQ 6): "My solution is unique in its adaptability to the conditions of the site. Many houses have been moved all over the world, churches, apartment buildings, eight storey hotels and so on. We are moving single storey houses, one family houses, which are made of pre-cast, pre-fabricated concrete, and assembled at the site. The unique solution, our solution, considers the structural elements and weaknesses of the buildings, which we arranged special supports to strengthen. Our unique solution refers to the soil conditions, the topographic conditions, and the distance between the houses. In short, we considered where the houses will start from and where they will have to be placed."

Background: INTRODUCTION: As Israel prepares to make further withdrawals from the Sinai peninsula, there have been repeated protests from Jewish settlers in the district. Many of them first went to the Sinai with Government encouragement, and now object to being made to leave. The Government has made offers of compensation, and although many settlers say it is not enough, Israeli authorities are going ahead with their plans.
SYNOPSIS: Israel has already withdrawn from large tracts of the Sinai peninsula, a largely arid territory annexed from Egypt in 1967. Under the terms of the Camp David treaty, Israel must also evacuate Yamit, a settlement on the Mediterranean coast on the main road between Israel and Egypt.
This road often has been blocked by farmers opposed to the agreement. To win their co-operation, the Government is offering compensation to settlers, but many have refused to accept. Now the Government has begun to evacuate the entire settlement....including the buildings. The architect of the plans was an Israeli Government consultant, Professor Finkel.
