TRANSCRIPT FOR SEQUENCE SIX: KATAWALA: "We cannot accept that Israel chops off our legs like in Golan Heights and we come here to cry for universality, we come here to cry to save the union. We can never accept that Israel mutilates people, civilians, children, women, old people."

Background: The meeting of the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) in the Kenyan capital of Nairobi continued on October 19, with the threat of a United States walkout if a resolution condemning Israel, was passed. The resolution submitted by Algeria, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Cuba, North and South Yemen, Pakistan and Zimbabwe accuses Israel of ignoring United Nations resolutions and violating international law. It condemns Israel for what it describes as the recent massacres of Palestinians and Lebanese citizens in Beirut. The strongly-worded resolution demands that Israel be excluded from the ITU conference. The US has labelled the resolution divisive and politically-motivated and has threatened to withdraw all financial support from the ITU if the resolution is passed. Several speakers at the conference have prompted the resolution in their opening speeches, among them the Saudi delegate, Rabea Sadik Dahlan and the Mozambique representative, Mr. Smart Edward Katawala.
