Background: VISNEWS cameras Mar 2 visited the greatest show of its kind in the world - the Ideal Home Exhibition - staged by the 'Daily Mail' national newspaper. Occupying the three great halls of Olympia Mar 3-30th more than a million visitors each year throng the aisles and galleries of this annual Mecca of home lovers. Here they can see all that is new in furnishing, decorating and running the home, from the house itself to the smallest of kitchen gadgets.

Dominating the east end of the Grand Hall is a large and graceful impression of Blenneim Palace, birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill, and home of the powerful Marlborough family. On the southside another famous and historical building arises - Warwick Castle - and facing the castle is an impressive replica of the "dreaming spires of Oxford".

Stands of the Grand Hall, housing displays of furniture, heating and cooking appliances, are built as cottages to form a Cotswold village.

The past, present and future combine in the British Pavilion which, at the Brussels International Exhibition last year, set all Europe talking. Made up of the Hall of Tradition, the Hall of Science and Technology and the Courtyard of Invention, the Pavilion shows in striking and moving fashion, Britain's achievements in almost every walk of life. And in a separate part of Olympia a scale model of 'Zeta' will be on show.

The latest in everything from food to furniture... bathroom to beauty preparations...flowers to fashion... is there for all to see. The variety and interest is unlimited, but it all centres around one thing; the British home (in whatever part of the world it may be), and the British way of life.
