  • Description

SCOUTS FROM SIX NATIONS ATTENDED PAKISTAN'S 4TH NATIONAL SCOUT JAMBOREE, HELD ON THE CAMPUS OF KARACHI UNIVERSITY. THE JAMBOREE WAS INAUGURATED ON SATURDAY BY THE WEST PAKISTAN GOVERNOR WHO STOOD IN FOR PRESIDENT AYUB KHAN, WHO WAS INDISPOSED THROUGH ILLNESS.

5,500 SCOUTS PARADED BEFORE WEST PAKISTAN GOVERNOR MOHAMMAD MUSA IN A GRAND SPECTACAL OF COLOUR. THE MARCH PAST WAS LED BY CONTINGENTS OF FOREIGN SCOUTS. THEY CAME FROM IRAN, SAUDI ARABIA, CEYLON, MALAYSIA AND BRITAIN, AND THERE WAS ONE AMERICAN SCOUT CARRYING HIS OWN NATIONAL FLAG.

THE PARADE WAS FOLLOWED BY A DISPLAY OF PHYSICAL EXERCISES AND A VARIETY OF FOLK DANCES.

THE JAMBOREE CAMP, SPREAD IN 300 TENTS ON 110 ACRES, HAS ITS OWN FIRST AID CENTRE, SHOPPING CENTRE, AND A CANTEEN, ALTHOUGH MOST SCOUTS DO THEIR OWN COOKING.
