Background: A mystery chimpanzee called "Ufiti" has been captured by the Nyasaland game department. She is to be flown to Britain today (Monday) for the Chester Zoo.
Ufiti, first seen near Lake Nyasa four years ago, is about 15 years old. She has mystified experts as the nearest haunt of chimpanzees in Africa is more than 1,000 miles away.
It was decided to capture the monkey and ship her to a zoo after she had attacked and bitten several people. Film shows the monkey in a cage shortly after her capture. The moving grill forced her against one wall of the cage, where she was injected with a tranquilliser before beginning her long voyage to England.
