COMMENTATOR: "It's Seattle Slew and he's drawing clear of the field Seattle Slew has four lengths on Run Dusty Run. It's Run Dusty Run in second and Sanhedrin third. They're clearing the finish line and it's still Seattle Slew and he's opened it out to four-and-a-half, then Run Dusty Run and Sanhedrin."
REPORTER: "He is the Triple Crown champion and he has never lost a race, and never before in the meticulously-recorded history of thoroughbred racing has one horse been able to make both those claims simultaneously. Seattle Slew is unique, his is historic, he is the ultimate bargain purchased to years ago for 17,500 dollars, valued now at roughly 10 million dollars. Seattle has had to prove himself has already outstripped Secretariat. And if his owners fulfil their half pledge to keep racing him for another year-and-a-half, Seattle Slew will surpass Secretariat in other ways. Seattle Slew is now truly a super horse."

Background: The latest champion race-horse in the United States is Seattle Slew, who won the Belmont Stakes on Saturday (11 June) to take the American Triple Crown. After taking the first two races in the premier series - the Kentucky Derby and the Preakness - his value was estimated at several million dollars. But now Seattle Slew, who's never lost a race, is valued at some ten million after his Belmont Stakes Victory, the third race in the Triple Crown. He took it four lengths ahead of Run Dusty Run and Sanhedrin - a report on the race in the last lap.
Secretariat was the ninth horse to take Triple Crown, in 1973. But he did loss one race in his previous performances.
