Background: There was great disappointment today in Amsterdam with the news that the Italian team had withdrawn at the last moment from the 'Ronde van Netherlands' - the six day Netherlands bicycle race the Tour of Holland. Many of the Government cyclists of Holland, Belgium, Germany - including world champion EN Rik van ???bergen and Rik van Looy from Belgium, and Schulte, Wim van Est, and Gerrit Voorting from Holland - assembled in the heart of the Dutch Capital for the start of this race, which goes through villages and towns and meets a variety of different conditions throughout Holland.
More than 50 riders left the starting past, but in such a gruelling and lengthy race it is certain that not all will finish.
