AFTER LYING UNDISTURBED FOR 30 YEARS, THE MANUSCRIPTS WERE FOUND BY AN AMERICAN MEDIEVAL SCHOLAR, PROFESSOR BARBARA RUCH FOR THE UNIVERSITY OF PENNSYLVANIA HER DISCOVERY HAS LET TO DUBLIN BEING DESIGNATED ONE OF THREE CENTRES OF A MAJOR SYMPOSIUM ON JAPANESE ILLUMINATED MANUSCRIPTS OF THE PERIOD ANNOUNCING THE DISCOVERY, IRISH EDUCATION MINISTER MR JOHN WILSON SAID THE TRUSTEES OF THE LIBRARY NOW INTEND TO PUBLISH THE ENTIRE JAPANESE COLLECTION - A TOTAL OF 2,000 ITEMS.
