Background: In Chicago again: a mass murderer broke into a nurses home and stabbed, shot or strangled eight student nurses. It's the worst crime of its kind in America since the gang warfare of the nineteen-twenties.
Police found one girl, stripped and lying dead on a couch on the ground floor.
Bodies of the other seven were found, their hands bound with nylon stockings, in the bedrooms upstairs.
One Filipino nurse escaped by hiding under a bed, but was too hysterical to give an account of what happened. She did, however, give a description of the killer.
Police have arrested a man in his fifties and two young hitchhikers as suspects.
