Background: The Hongkong Society for the Protection of Children, with the collaboration of the United Kingdom Trade Commissioner, Mr. G.W.B. Harrison, and Mr. George Tyler, who originated the scheme, held a Fashion Show to raise funds.

Some 500 babies from the poorest Chinese families are cared for by the Society. Babies are brought weekly to the Society's centres to be bathed and weighed. Mothers are issued with a weekly supply of full cream this age. They are also given Vitamin C in the form of black current juice or ascorbic acid tablets. Cod liver oil, adexolin, Calcium, Iron and Vitamin B1 are also given to the needful cases.

Five centres are now operating to full capacity in Hongkong and Kowloon. The Society's funds are derived entirely on charitable donations, and a Government subvertions. More centres are badly needed.

Primarily to secure funds for the Society, the Show exhibits this year's United Kingdom textiles and fashions. Although small in size, Hongkong, is one of the six most important customers in the world for U.K. wool textiles.

All the materials were produced in the United Kingdom. Some of the dresses have been styled by Hunt Couturiers in London, some by other leading fashion houses in England and by Hongkong tailors.
