Background: The Unites Arab Emirates (UAE) and Qatar representatives to the Unites Nations both condemned Israel's attitude during the General Assembly's debate on the Middle East on Friday (3 December).

SYNOPSIS: UAE representative Mohamed Ali al-Tajir called on all countries to stop selling arms to Israel. He said Israel's attempt to change the "demographic character" and Arab lands was an act of aggression. He also said it was time to take measures to insure the withdrawal of Israel from occupied lands and establish the Palestinian rights.

Qatar representative Mohamed Noor al-Obaidly said Israel "is not serious in its attitudes." He said the step by step peace process had reached an impasse. "There is nothing to indicate any hope for pace in the Middle East", he added.
