Background: INTRODUCTION: There was a bonanza of goals in Wednesday's (30 September) UEFA Cup soccer match between Hamburg and Utrecht played in the Netherlands. The score was six-three to the visiting Germans which angered the local fans and the violence wasn't confined to the spectators with two players, one from either side, being sent off during the game.
SYNOPSIS: Utrecht, playing left to right had been expected to win through, having already won in Hamburg one-nil, but it was Hamburg's number six, Milewski, who put the first score on the board.
And it wasn't long before Hamburg, in the white, struck again and this time it was the number three, Vaymyer (phonetic) who scored from the corner.
Another corner and another goal making it three-nil, the scorer this time was Hartsweek (phonetic).
By this time the local fans, particularly those near the Hamburg bench were annoyed at the thrashing their team was receiving and they began to make their annoyance felt. Eventually, ten spectators were arrested for fighting.
The violence soon spread to the field. This was one of several incidents between players during the game and a player from each side was sent off. It wasn't enough to stop Hamburg though with Bustroop (phonetic) making it four nil.
Utrecht's number nine Kardor (phonetic) gave the crowd something to cheer about with this goal.
That was quickly countered with Hamburg's fifth goal by the number eight, Von Haysen (phonetic).
It was too late for any hope of a comeback for Utrecht but this penalty helped make the score line more flattering. The scorer was De Krowg (phonetic).
Utrecht's third goal was deflected into the net by one of Hamburg's defenders and for a moment the crowd thought their team had a chance but the Hamburg number six, Milewski scored for the second time, making the final score six-three.
