    AMONG THE RECORDS DESTROYED WAS THE WORK OF INDIA'S GREATEST ANTHROPOLOGIST, DR. M.N. SRINIVAS, OF THE UNIVERSITY OF DELHI.

    THE DEMONSTRATORS STARTED WHEN 125 STUDENTS, PROTESTING AGAINST THE EXISTENCE AT THE UNIVERSITY OF AN OFFICER-CADET CORPS PARADED THROUGH THE CAMPUS SHOUTING SLOGANS AND CARRYING VIETCONG FLAGS.

    POLICE DISPERSED THE DEMONSTRATORS AND ARRESTED 23 OF THEM DURING THE NIGHT. THE REST FLED, SMASHING AN ESTIMATED $ 40,000 WORTH OF WINDOWS. THREE HOURS LATER THE STUDIES CENTRE FOR ADVANCED STUDIES IN THE BEHAVIORAL SCIENCES WAS BURNT TO THE GROUND. POLICE BELIEVE THE FLAMES WERE STARTED BY FIRE BOMBS.

    THE FIRES STARTED IN TWO SEPARATE WINGS OF THE STUDIES CENTRE. DAMAGE WAS ESTIMATED AT BETWEEN $ 50,000 AND $ 100,000. BUT THE UNIVERSITY SAID, THIS AMOUNT DID NOT INCLUDE THE INCALCULABLE DAMAGE TO THE NOTES AND RECORDS OF THE SCHOLARS
    SYNOPSIS: DEMONSTRATIONS AT STANFORD UNIVERSITY IN CALIFORNIA ON FRIDAY APRIL 24 ENDED IN THE DESTRUCTION OF THE LIFE WORKS OF TEN SCHOLARS CURRENTLY VISITING THE CAMPUS. THE DAMAGE WAS CAUSED WHEN FIRE SWEPT THROUGH THE STUDIES CENTRE FOR ADVANCED BEHAVIORAL SCIENCES DURING THE NIGHT, A FEW HOURS AFTER POLICE HAS MANAGED TO QUELL THE STUDENT RIOTERS. IT IS BELIEVED THAT THE DISASTER WAS CAUSED BY FIRE BOMB.
