Background: More than 800 American paratroopers Wednesday (March 3) dropped into south Korean territory to launch a joint assault exercise code-named "Freedom Vault". The exercise comes shortly after the Americans announced they were withdrawing 20,000 troops from South Korea by June this year. However with the announcement came a pledge that the US would always honour its commitments in the country.... and the exercise was clearly designed to show how troops would be rushed in to help if South Korea was attacked.
