Background: IN ABERDEEN, DAILY LIFE IS DOMINATED BY THE ANTI-TYPHOID PRECAUTIONS. THE STREETS ARE QUIETER - AND SO ARE MANY OF THE SHOPS.
ALL THE CITY'S SCHOOLS ARE CLOSED, AND THIRTY THOUSAND SCHOOLCHILDREN HAVE STARTED THEIR UNEXPECTED HOLIDAY IN BRIGHT SUN SCHOOL SPORTS AND CAMPS HAVE BEEN CANCELLED, BUT PLAYING FIELDS WILL BE OPEN DURING THE DAY TO KEEP THE CHILDREN OFF THE STREETS. THEIR PLAY WILL BE SUPERVISED. THE YOUNGER BOYS AND GIRLS CAN NO LONGER GO TO YOUTH CLUBS, OR MOST CINEMAS ON THEIR OWN.
THE SWIMMING POOLS - A FAVOURITE HAUNT DURING SCHOOL HOLIDAYS - ARE ALSO CLOSED.
