Background: Living in the married quarters at Kokolo Camp - the Congolese Army base named after a Congolese officer killed in last month's exchange of fire with Tunisian troops of the U.N. Force in Leopoldville - is a former Belgian adjutant, Captain Jean Goosse, now on the staff of Congolese Army leader Colonel Joseph Mobutu.

Captain Goosse, 36 is the one remaining Belgian Army man whose family remained with him throughout the Congo troubles. His wife, German-born Anne-Marie, refused to leave in the July upheaval. In the midst of the mutiny, loyal Congolese soldiers protected them both and their children - Ludo, 12; Jack,10; and Anne-Marie, 5.

Formerly of the Force Publique, Goosse received his rank of captain from Colonel Mobutu soon after the July mutiny. Today his task includes the despatch of Congolese soldiers to trouble sports in the Congo.
