Background: The British seamen's strike is affecting foreign-owned vessels. Yesterday (Friday) the Danish coastal tanker Laura Terkol, docked at Aberdeen, was blacklisted by the seamen's union, supported by Aberdeen dockers.
The tanker sailed from Aberdeen last night with her cargo of 1,500 tons of fuel oil still aboard. The seamen claimed the ship was being used as a replacement for strike-bound British tankers. Dockers at Aberdeen agreed not to discharge the cargo.
Last night the tanker, which is on charter to the Shell company, was bound for Partington, near Liverpool. But an official of the dockers' union said the tanker would not be allowed to unload anywhere in Britain.
