Background: Deputy inspector-general of police Sidney de Zoysa - compulsorily retired by the Ceylonese Government Nov 27 - was last filmed at Colombo airport, Nov 21, when he was awaiting the return of his brother Stanley, the Minister of Finance, from the Colombo Plan conference in Indonesia.

Stanley de Zoysa resigned from the office of Finance Minister, Nov 22, following the arrest of his elder brother Richard de Zoysa in connection with the assassination off former Premier Bandaranaike. Dahanayake to appoint another Finance Minister. Soon afterwards Mr. M.M. Mustapha took over from Stanley de Zoysa.

The latest news of the fate of the three brothers came Nov 28, when it was announced that Sidney de Zoysa had been compulsorily retired the previous day on orders of the Minister of Justice Jayawickrama who is responsible for the police department. One of the charges against him was that he had caused embarrassment to members of the Ceylonese Parliament by referring to them in a statement he issued to the Press.

Richard de Zoysa is reported to have been released from custody, Nov 26.
