    Background: Palestinian commandos yesterday (Friday) returned passports to about 100 of the hijack hostages held in Amman's Intercontinental Hotel. For an almost equal number--most of them women and children--there was temporary disappointment. Their passports were not returned because, apparently, of "organisational" difficulties.

    The passports were handed out in the hotel basement, where many of the hostages sheltered while commandos and Jordanian Army troops fought outside. Of three passengers interviewed, only one had received her passport back:
