Sir Alec comments on Nehru's death before leaving to attend the funeral.
TRANSCRIPT: Sir Alec: 'Everyone will feel in the death of Nehru that they have lost a man of great character and distinction - loss to the whole world. Nehru used to talk of aspirations for his own people and how to make a better world. He was a man of compassion and peace. Once India had gained independence bitterness never entered into his mind and he was the first to his country into the Commonwealth Association of Nations. Was a man of magnanimity and breadth of mind and vision. Was a national leader, philosopher, felt deeply about the affairs of all people. Influence of Behru spread far outside his own country. I go to India to pay the respect of Her Majesty's government to a colleague and friend.'
