    Argentine President Raul Alfonsin has held talks with opposition leader "Isabelita" Peron.A Peronist statement after the meeting in Buenos Aires on May 30 said discussions had centred on Argentina's economic problems."Isabelita" -- actually Maria Estela Peron -- was quoted as declaring the meeting had been positive.She said "we're all working for national unity".Since her return from exile in Spain on May 20, Peron has pledged her support for Alfonsin's efforts to restore the economy.As leader of the Peronist movement, she controls the Senate and the powerful trade union movement.Despite President Alfonsin's sweeping victory in elections last October when the country returned to democratic rule, he needs Peronist backing if he is to reduce the 500 per cent inflation rate and restore economic health to Argentina.National unity is said by observers to be important for Alfonsin in strengthening his position as he renegotiates Argentina's foreign debt of 43.6 billion US dollars.Among Peron's team at the talks was the Governor of La Rioja Province, Eduardo Menen, a principal opposition figure.Some opposition trade union leaders were unhappy with Peron's conciliatory attitude toward the government.Peron is the widow of the founder of the right-wing Peronist and three-time President, Juan Domingo Peron.She herself became President from his death in 1974 until she was ousted by the military in 1976.After five years under detention, she went into exile in Spain.
