Background: Sunday, Apl 19, the Grand Prix de France competition rounded off the Nice International Horse Show in the grounds of the Chateau de Nice. Along with the distinction of first palace, the winner, Captain de Fombelle of France, on Bucephale received the President of the Republic's Cup.
Riders from eight nations competed at the show - French, Dutch, Italian, American, Rumanian, Portuguese, Turkish and Spanish.
Turkish Captain Gonenli came second on Temel and French Colonel Fresson on Grand Veneur was third.
Among the several, but unplaced, women was Irene Jansen of Holland. Captain de Fombelle was also fourth in the Prix du Comite des Fetes - riding Bucephale. In the general classification he was first with five points.
