Background: Lunawa, 25 miles from Colombo, Ceylon, is the home of a miracle-worker. In the Buddhist temple, often last resort of hundreds of sick Sinhalese people, middle-aged Mrs. Silva works her miracles.

Even before our camera, a blind man was made to see. Before going to Mrs. Silva, he underwent treatment by an eye specialist, qualified in Vienna.

Mrs. Silva's treatment was simple - prayers and sprinkling of holy water over the blind eyes. In a few minutes, the man opened his eyes, his sight restored.

The temple courtyard is always crowded, when Mrs. Silva starts her healing sessions. Helped by the chief monk, she offers prayers to Buddha, patron of the temple, Drums, pipes and bells accompany the chanting congregation.

Quickly the atmosphere becomes tense: chanting devotees reach hysteria pitch: at the climax, Mrs. Silva and many others, go into a trance. It's while she is in this state, that Mrs. Silva works her miracles.
