Background: The Dutch Government has ordered an immediate investigation into a bomb explosion at the Soviet Trade Delegation Building in Amsterdam today. The Soviet Union has lodged a protest. The blast wrecked the ground floor, ripped off a balcony and smashed all the windows. A small boy and three adults were injured. An immediate police cordon was thrown around the building and the Soviet Embassy in the Hague. The American consulate nearby was slightly damaged.

The explosion caused damage over a wide area. The windows of the nearby American Consulate were smashed. The Soviet Union has protested to Holland over the incident. The Dutch Foreign Ministry said that the Soviets claimed the attack had been made for political reasons and demanded the arrest and punishment of the attackers. As yet, Dutch police are at a loss to explain the reasons behind the attack.
