Background: The East German Foreign Minister, Doctor Otto Winzer continued his five day official visit to Singapore yesterday (Wednesday) with an inspection of a block of flats constructed by the Singapore Housing Board. The visit is the result of discussion started in late 1967 to arrange a bilateral trade agreement. Trade between the two countries has been increasing each year with Singapore importing about two and a half million dollars worth of East German goods last year and East German ships making frequent calls to the island.
